Jason Smith is a highly-regarded technology entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience building and leading companies. He is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Real Matters, one of North America’s fastest growing and most innovative companies. The company’s cloud-based real estate technology platform combined with its network of more than 100,000 qualified independent field agents optimizes the management of critical, regulated real estate processes such as appraisals, insurance inspections, title search and mortgage closings.
Prior to Real Matters, Jason was the founder, director and an executive with Basis100, a company he built from a handful of employees into one of the largest publicly traded technology providers to the mortgage banking industry worldwide. Basis100 was subsequently sold in 2004.
A leader in his community, Jason is a director of several corporations and is the Chairman of the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation.
Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary
Alistair has extensive financial services experience gained over more than 20 years in consumer finance, retail banking, investment banking, insurance and professional services across Europe and North America.
Alistair most recently worked for HSBC where he established and managed HSBC's consumer finance businesses in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. Alistair started business life at Arthur Andersen in the U.K. before becoming Head of Group Finance at Egg Bank, the world's largest pure internet bank.
Alistair holds an M.A. from Worcester College, Oxford University, an M.B.A. from Manchester Business School and is a qualified Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Loren has full executive oversight of Solidifi's business operations in North America including appraisal management, quality control, sales, and client services. Since joining Solidifi in 2008, Loren's leadership has been instrumental in the company's steady growth and ascension to becoming a leading independent provider of residential real estate appraisals.
His career includes more than 18 years of successful promotion and deployment of business solutions to the financial services sector with a focus on real estate valuation, mortgage and loan origination technologies, as well as data management.
Prior to Solidifi, Loren held senior management positions at Davis & Henderson and Equifax.
In his role as General Manager of Real Matters, the parent company of Solidifi, Jeff Patterson is responsible for people enablement initiatives such as talent acquisition, human resources, organizational effectiveness, technology services and premises.
Over the course of his career Jeff has held leadership and senior management positions with reporting issuers and private companies in Canada and the USA. His mandates have included developing and executing strategies, building strong management teams, acquisitions, divestitures, formal restructurings, designing and implementing new business models in mature industries and raising capital.
Jeff is a Chartered Accountant and obtained his MBA degree at the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto and his Bachelor of Arts (Mathematics) degree from the University of Western Ontario.
Executive Vice President, Program Management
Craig Rowsell has over 17 years’ experience in helping build and deliver technology solutions for the mortgage industry. In his capacity as EVP of Program Management Craig has direct responsibility for the Solidifi Operations and Program Management team. Craig joined Solidifi in January of 2014.
Craig’s industry experience includes various leadership roles in the mortgage processing and collateral management industry. During his career, Craig has been responsible for helping to build and deploy a national AVM, third party risk management solutions, mortgage collection platform and appraisal management solutions. Craig’s industry experience includes leadership positions in e-services, a national collateral management company and a national title company. While in these roles, Craig was instrumental in delivering solutions to large institutional customers, forming strategic partnerships, driving operational excellence, leading corporate strategy, expanding core businesses into international markets and building new products and services.
Chief Technology Officer
Ryan Smith is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Real Matters and is responsible for the company’s visionary technology foundation. Under Ryan’s stewardship, a dedicated team of mortgage industry specialists and technology innovators supports the company’s next-generation SaaS platform, building it into the industry leader that enables our clients and partners to succeed.
Ryan joined Real Matters in 2006 bringing with him a wealth of experience in driving high-growth, cross-company engineering initiatives and collaboration strategies that deliver mission critical business solutions. Throughout his 18-year career in the financial services technology sector, Ryan has built successful real estate collateral assessment and mortgage processing solutions.
Prior to his role at Real Matters, Ryan held various executive positions in private and public organizations including Basis100, one of the largest publicly-traded technology providers to the mortgage banking industry worldwide.
Executive Vice President
Greg has a 20 year track record of growing and operating successful high-growth technology companies. He joined the Real Matters team in 2014.
Throughout his career, Greg has focused on applying an operational, financial and business framework to high-potential ideas so they can successfully grow and scale into high-growth, profitable businesses. Greg is the former Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Kobo Inc. Under his leadership, Kobo quickly became the second largest ebook company in the world. Prior to joining Kobo, Greg was Chief Financial Officer of Opalis Software, a software venture which was sold to Microsoft in 2009, and prior to that, he was Corporate Controller of Cyperplex.
Greg is a CPA and received a fellowship award in 2013 (FCPA, FCGA) for his outstanding work and contribution. He holds Business Administration Diploma from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, and a Bachelor of Accounting Science Degree from the University of Calgary.
Executive Vice President Corporate Development
Kevin Walton is responsible for Real Matters' global growth strategy, including acquisitions and partnerships across numerous market verticals. Preceding this role, Kevin was instrumental in leading the growth and operations for Solidifi--Real Matters appraisal management subsidiary.
Kevin's industry experience spans over 14 years, including six years with a global property information services company where he was responsible for developing strategic partnerships, corporate strategy and acquisitions across North America and Europe. He was also active in the development of one of the first data-based, guaranteed valuation solutions in North America.
Prior to entering the mortgage services space, Kevin spent two years in venture capital and merchant banking.
